My family has been making this amazing, authentic cheesy goulash recipe since my mom was a child. My grandparents were amazing cooks, which thankfully my mom inherited, and I have since been making this dish for my family. Even my two and four year old girls love this!
Luckily, this hearty, comfort meal is quick and easy to put together! We love it with a yummy a salad and garlic toast. So here it is, the best cheesy goulash the whole family will love:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 lb. ground round
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 1 can of tomato juice (about 7 ounces)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- Dash garlic salt
- 1/2 lb. elbow macaroni
- 8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
Start by browning the ground round and onions in a frying pan.
Drain the grease, and then add the tomato juice, salt, pepper, and garlic salt. You want it to be juicy, but not too juicy. Also, once this cooks for a while, you may want to add a bit more juice as the meat tends to soak it up a bit.
Simmer covered for 50-60 minutes and stir occasionally.
In a separate pot, cook the elbow macaroni according to the package. Drain.
Mix the hamburger sauce and macaroni together, and then add the cheese.
That’s it! Enjoy 🙂
